Great Friends Make All The Difference In The World!

A Personal Note From Shawn Feddema...

 To My Fantastic Friends,

For those of you who are unaware, I've had some recent issues with my heart. I can’t thank you enough for all that you have said and done over the past several months. Your love, concern, and attention have gone further than you might imagine. I have been able to enjoy a relatively stress-free life filled with love. I have been able to connect with some incredible doctors who have, in their words, adopted me. They have gone to great lengths to see that I am able to remain positive and focused on improving my health situation. The kindness and good will of a collection of fantastic people have demonstrated their power in every conceivable way. With that in mind, I want to shout out a big “THANKS” with the hopes that the same spirit will live on to benefit others in the same way that you have touched my life.

 With the love and support of some fantastic people, I am beating the odds; my health is improving rather than deteriorating. While I am not necessarily out of the woods, my heart function has improved significantly. I was initially told that I have less than five years to live. I was told that I needed to quit working and file for disability benefits as a means to survive. A perfect heart puts out 70 percent; my heart’s output was reduced to ten percent—almost dead. It is now up to 42 percent, this is a drastic and somewhat unimaginable improvement. My incredible doctor had tears in her eyes when she heard the news of the test results that showed the extent to which my health has improved.

 I am looking forward to returning to Wisconsin and to the business and the community that keeps me rooted and feeling optimistic about the present and the future. I have been told that there is a benefit in the works to help me to survive. The idea fills me with an abundance of gratitude. However, I don’t feel that I am the most needy person at this particular point. I appreciate the positive energy very much. I propose to keep it alive by turning this benefit into a party/fundraiser that includes fun, friends, food, and everything that makes The Wolf River Territory special.

I would love to see an annual event that generates revenue for the community to accomplish meaningful local tasks. Given the fact that unexpected hardships can be overwhelming, I would also appreciate the start of a fund that would allow us to offer assistance when we find that one of our friends or neighbors in need. Let’s take advantage of an opportunity to get together and facilitate a good cause. There is incredible power when individuals come together for a common, worthy goal. Let’s keep it alive!
